Here
are two real-life stories which are adopted from
novels.
1.
A Staged Kidnap
A 15-year-old boy, Danny ganged up with his friend,
Andy to cheat his father of $100,000. They plotted
the whole thing by faking a kidnap.
Andy,
as the kidnapper, called Danny's father and told
him that Danny was with him and demanded a ransom
of $100,000. After making the call, the 2 boys found
that $100,000 and they decided to lower the amount.
After receiving the call, Danny's father filed a
police report.
The
next day, Andy made a second call to confirm the
location and amount. This time, they lowered the
amount to $10,000. Danny and Andy thought that they
were going to be rich soon but little did they know
that the police have tracked them down.
2.
Juvenile Murder
The youngest criminal in Singapore is Moorthy, a
12-year-old boy. At then, he commanded a gang. One
day, he decided to use his gang to rob a 15-year-old
newsvendor, Jega.
On
one fateful night, one of Moorthy's boys told Jega
that they had important news for him and they asked
Jega to meet him at the alley behind the newsstand
after work. After knocking off from work, Jega headed
towards the alley. When he arrived, a group of 11
boys pounced on him and robbed him of $20. Though
outnumbered, Jega chased them but the boys managed
to hop into a taxi and off they went.
The
next night, 2 of the boys came back for Jega again.
Jega asked for his money to be returned, but the
boys refused and Jega threatened to report them
to the police. With this, the 2 boys became frightened
and they reported this to Moorthy, who hatched a
plan to solve the matter. He went to the Chinese
sinseh and asked for 4 sleeping pills. He planned
to give this to Jega but tablets for heatiness were
prescribed instead.
That
night, Moorthy tricked Jega into meeting him at
a coffee shop, saying that he would return him his
money. Jega drank the doped coffee but nothing happened
after a long time, so Moorthy told him to come with
him to the train station to get his money.
At
the station, the gang members beat Jega to a pulp
to teach him a lesson for questioning their authority
in the public, but unfortunately, they were too
harsh and they killed him. Trying to get away scott-free,
they threw the body onto the railway tracks to make
people think that he fell onto the railway accidentally.
However,
Moorthy and his gang were caught by the police in
the end and put into the boys' home as they were
below 18.
